David McDade, age 36, of Worcester, was arrested around 2:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, after a state police trooper noticed he was driving in a black Mazda CX-9 without headlights.
Trooper Micheal Lyons pulled over McDade and after running a check found that his license had been suspended, state police said.
While waiting for the vehicle to be towed, Lyons conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a silver Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with five rounds of .38 special ammunition, state police said.
Upon discovery of the handgun and confirming MdDade did not possess a license to carry a firearm, he was arrested.
A further investigation and conversation with McDade, Lyons was able to locate a baggie containing a substance believed to be cocaine, a digital scale, and several baggies containing marijuana.
Additionally, it was discovered McDade was carrying the revolver in his waistband when the traffic stop was initiated.
McDade was charged with:
- Lights violation
- Operation of a vehicle on a suspended license
- Carrying a firearm
- Carrying a loaded firearm
- Improper storage of a firearm
- Firearm violation with one prior violent/drug crime
- Felony possession of a firearm
- Possess to distribute Class B drug
- Possess to distribute Class D drugs.
